- 65daysofstatic.
<sub>
haven't listened to this yet.
</sub>

The Sentinel - Aerial.
<sub>
the PERFECT mix of vocals and post-rock. this shit is amazing. listen to it at ANY cost probably one of my top post-rock albums for this year.
</sub>

The Technicolour Sleep - The American Dollar.
<sub>
i've tried listening to this album. i really have. i couldn't get further
than two songs into it, it just made me wish i were listening to the
evpatoria report, or sigur ros instead.
</sub>

Armchair Apocrypha - Andrew Bird.
<sub>
disliked this album. nothing special at all.
</sub>

National Anthem of Nowhere - Apostle of Hustle.
<sub>
haven't listened to this yet.
</sub>

Neon Bible - The Arcade Fire.
<sub>
this was mediocre.
and just for mubydram:
to be honest i didn't think it was a bad album at all. good in fact. but it's one of those albums that can only be truly enjoyed if you forget the artist's previous work. Funeral is impossible to surpass in pure listening ecstasy in such a style, and ultimately the high hopes and even higher standards of those eager to embrace what The Arcade Fire was to grace our ears with once more led to its downfall. personally, and this is just me, there are some very good songs on this release - Black Mirror, Intervention and others... i haven't listened to this in a while - but it's just not the same Arcade Fire. Funeral was a perfect 10, but because of it, Neon Bible can only fare a six or seven.
i still wear my Arcade Fire badge proud.
</sub>

Some Loud Thunder - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!
<sub>
haven't listened to this yet.
</sub>

The Meaning of 8 - Cloud Cult.
<sub>
exceptional. i must listen more.
</sub>

The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn - CocoRosie.
<sub>
a definite top album of the year. the production of this album is just
INSANE. it's like CocoRosie's last two albums on even more acid and
peyote minus the wretching. this is one of those records that i am so
proud of the band for making. they're still who they are and kept their
roots, with squeaky toys and twisted vocals and sounds and just
madness. pure unadulterated music.
</sub>

Les Ondes Silencieuses - Colleen.
<sub>
lovely. just really really lovely. i listened to the first two songs before falling asleep. a sure sign of perfection.
</sub>

Friend Opportunity - Deerhoof.
<sub>
haven't listened to this properly yet.
</sub>

Glare/Halo - Destroyalldreamers.
<sub>
haven't listened to this properly yet.
</sub>

You, You're a History in Rust - Do Make Say Think.
<sub>
this was eh. i'll give it another chance soon.
</sub>

Copia - Eluvium.
<sub>
this was a bit eh too.
</sub>

All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone - Explosions in the Sky.
<sub>
same old eits. give us something new you sellouts.
</sub>

The Reminder - Feist.
<sub>
very good album. very good. i'm just so happy this wasn't disappointing in the least.
</sub>

Tears of the Valedictorian - Frog Eyes.
<sub>
one of my top albums for this year. mos def. much like CocoRosie these
guys have just set the bar so much higher for themselves, and really
achieved what they set out to do. in case you didn't know, that would
be to make a truly kickass album. every single song is memorable,
every single note is belted out so passionately and with such conviction
that you can't help but smile or cry or want to punch something. it's
the best rollercoaster ride in the world, that's frog eyes.
</sub>

Burning Off Impurities - Grails.
<sub>
almost as good as black tar prophecies. awesome album.
</sub>

In Stormy Nights - Ghost.
<sub>
haven't listened to this yet.
</sub>

Red State - Gowns.
<sub>
starts out amazing but i lose interest a few songs in every time. each
song has a different sound and they're pretty rad in their own right
but the album just doesn't flow. i don't know what the band's sound is,
it's completely different on every track.
</sub>

Samus Octology - Irepress.
<sub>
only listen to this if you can't get enough of Russian Circles' Enter. this junk's forgettable, but not unbearable.
</sub>

Like Trees We Grow Up To Be Satellites - Lazarus.
<sub>
it's like an awesomified Elliott Smith. pretty good, milhouse.
</sub>

Friend and Foe - Menomena.
<sub>
some good songs, but mostly eh... actually the more i listen to it the
more i grow to like it. there's some interesting stuff happening here.
</sub>

This Too Will Pass - The One AM Radio.
<sub>
haven't listened to this properly yet.
</sub>

City of Echoes - Pelican.
<sub>
semi-okay. very good in some parts. but come on, it's pelican. it's awesome by default.
</sub>

Devastator - STAR.
<sub>
the Desert Doughnuts of 2007. i'm listening to it for the first time right now and it's pretty amazing. pity the songs aren't really memorable but i really really dig the sound.
</sub>
</sub>

Top 13 releases of 2006

According to the StaceMeister.

Firstly I'd like to start off by saying that 2006 HAS BEEN A FUCKING AWESOME YEAR FOR MUSIC. The Dresden Dolls are one of my favourite all-time bands, but this album had me torn. There were some excellent, excellent songs but BY GOD the abominations I had to sift through to get to those were absolutely appalling. I couldn't understand what happened to Amanda Palmer's lyric writing skills, and in place of the power-laced yarns and immensely captivating characters, her voice sounded no more than a vehicle to drive meaningless oohs and aahs into our heads. It was obvious to me that the Dolls had been taken over, and were being dumbed down. This was particularly prevalent in Brian's drumming apart from the first couple of songs.

I was expecting more from the Dresden Dolls, more life and power and freedom and just more of the definition-evading duo. I had very high hopes for this album, and it turned out to be no more than mediocre. Although they were pretty fucking rockin' live.

The Crane Wife ~ The Decemberists

Dear God this was a boring album. That is all.

Beast Moans ~ Swan Lake

Pretty much the same as what I was expecting with the Dresden Dolls, a kickass album from kickass musicians. There is not one good song on this album. It's utter crap. Avoid it at all costs.

Every Red Heart Shines Towards the Sun ~ Red Sparowes

Same recycled formulas, for chord progressions, song titles and mood. Epic only if this is the first Red Sparowes album you are going to hear.

Random Avenger ~ Magyar Posse

I'd heard Intercontinental Hustle from the second volume of The Silent Ballet compilation album, and thought it was cleverly put together, and, after reading rave reviews and being recommended this album numerous times, I decided to check it out in full. Oh Lordie this was unbearable. I can't remember what it was about the album (y'see, I instantly block out all memories of music I dislike), but it was majorly irking me. I haven't been able to listen to it straight through since, or even to one song from start to finish. Magyar Posse make me sad that post-rock is complicatedly tied in with tedious emotions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't know when I'm going to post again. Probably never. Or when I find an awesome album. Or when I have something to share. So basically never.
<img width='1' height='1'
